![]() ![]() Nice pictorial quality, not especially sharp 'til stopped down to around f/4, tho' that's due in part to the near total lack of grease to dampen the focusing helicoid. The 50/2 AI came with my battered old F3HP/MD-4, my first Nikon rig. Comparing this to the current 50mm AF lenses, I would say that the f2 is better than both (butĪ few photos from my latest roll are posted below. Bokeh is good, but you can see the blades if you look closely - but better than This lens also handles infinity shots superbly - a rare asset nowadays - and distant What really impressed me though is the colour, The viewfinder snaps in and out ofįocus, and the fast aperture makes low light photography easy. ![]() Well, first impressions are good - the lens is well assembled and slick to focus. This manual lens is going for very low prices on the used market, and as I have one I have re-evaluated it. What with all the current interest in the 50mm f1.8 and f1.4 lenses, I thought I would post my thoughts on the 50mmį2 Ai lens. ![]()
